About Us
IT is an ever-powerful part of the corporate universe.
The commIT concept was born in 1998, when a Fortune 50 client sought our help with a novel dilemma: how to convert 40,000 employees to a faster, more powerful email system. The technology worked, but our client’s employees weren’t really interested in the new product – what they had was just fine. In addition, they were quite concerned that they might lose their data in the conversion and that the new system would be hard to learn. Formal classroom training was expensive ($100/head) and impractical (took a day). Most of all, these potential students were reluctant to attend; they expected the technology to be intuitive and didn’t want to waste time in classrooms.
The commIT team knew that easing this change meant coming up with radical new solutions. First, we created a fun, award-winning video – which introduced the system in just 18 minutes. Second, we trained a support team on the new product, then sent them out to each transitioning group to solve problems and answer “how to” questions. After each transition we evaluated the help desk activity and fine-tuned our own methods. It all cost far less than conventional training – and was measurably more successful.
The client was thrilled with the result, and its employees quickly learned MS Outlook …proving that IT change can be seen as positive and productive.
commIT has since expanded our services into a broad array of solutions for large, complex IT initiatives.
